Raise awareness about Malaysia’s Migrant Repatriation Program 2.0

Kuala Lumpur, October 5, 2025 — The Federation of NRI Cultural Associations, Malaysia (FNCA-Malaysia), has called for urgent support from Indian authorities, particularly in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, to raise awareness about Malaysia’s Migrant Repatriation Program 2.0 (PRM 2.0). This initiative, launched by the Malaysian government, offers undocumented migrant workers a safe and legal pathway to return to their home countries without facing imprisonment or heavy penalties.
The PRM 2.0 program, running from May 19, 2025, to April 30, 2026, allows undocumented workers to regularize their status by paying a nominal fine of RM 500 (approximately ₹10,000). For those without valid passports, the Indian High Commission in Malaysia is facilitating Emergency Travel Certificates to enable their return.
A significant number of these workers hail from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, many of whom were misled by unscrupulous agents and entered Malaysia on visit visas, only to find themselves stranded without legal documentation. FNCA-Malaysia, in collaboration with organizations like the Telugu Expats Association of Malaysia, Bharathiya Association of Malaysia, and Malaysia Andhra Association, is actively guiding affected workers through the amnesty process.
In a letter addressed to Shri Etala Rajendar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Government of India, FNCA-Malaysia President Bureddy Mohan Reddy emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure the safe return of these workers. The organization has requested the Telangana government to spread awareness through official channels and media, urging affected individuals and their families to act before the program’s deadline. They also seek collaboration between the Telangana government, the Indian High Commission, and community organizations to facilitate a dignified return for these workers.
“This is a critical opportunity for thousands of Indian citizens, particularly from Telangana, to return home legally and avoid unnecessary hardship,” said Reddy. “We urge the authorities to amplify this message and help our people seize this chance.”
