Community Leader Vijay Chavva Honored at AMANA Iftar Gathering
The Andhra Muslim Association of North America (AMANA) recently hosted a distinguished Iftar gathering in the Bay Area, bringing together a diverse assembly of community leaders, professionals, and families. The event served as a vibrant celebration of the spirit of Ramadan, emphasizing the core values of compassion, generosity, and service. Beyond the spiritual significance of breaking the fast, the gathering functioned as a powerful platform for fostering interfaith dialogue and strengthening the bonds of mutual respect within the Indian diaspora.
Recognition of Leadership and Service
A primary highlight of the evening was the presentation of a first-of-its-kind award to Vijay Chavva, CEO of YemPover and a prominent figure in the NRI community. The award, presented by K. Srikar Reddy, Consul General of India in San Francisco, recognized Chavva’s extensive efforts in building bridges between diverse communities and his unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes. Chavva, who is also the founder of the Telangana Cultural Association (TCA) and Telangana Radio, was lauded for his ability to integrate corporate excellence with meaningful social impact.
A Decade of Tradition and Unity
The event also paid tribute to a decade-long Iftar tradition initiated by the Telangana Cultural Association in 2016. This initiative was founded on the vision of bringing people together across cultural and religious boundaries to celebrate shared human values. Over the last ten years, this tradition has grown into a significant communal landmark, maintained by a dedicated core team. Vijay Chavva, influenced by the philosophy of Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb, noted that such gatherings reflect the rich, inclusive heritage of Hyderabad and Telangana, where coexistence and harmony are foundational.

Strengthening Diaspora Bonds
The gathering was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the AMANA leadership team, including National President Abdul Quddus, Bay Area Chapter President Karimulla Shaik, and other key board members. Attendees noted that in a multicultural society like the United States, these events are essential for the NRI community to maintain a sense of collective identity. By sharing a meal and engaging in dialogue, the participants reinforced the idea that diversity acts as a catalyst for unity and collaborative progress.
