Truecaller Lite Launched in India: Lightweight App Brings Powerful Caller ID and Spam Protection in Just 10 MB

Truecaller has officially announced the launch of Truecaller Lite in India, a standalone lightweight Android application designed specifically for devices with limited storage and memory. At approximately 10 MB in size, Truecaller Lite installs rapidly, opens quickly, and operates smoothly on smartphones with up to 4 GB of RAM. Launched ahead of the peak festive shopping season a period marked by a surge in fake delivery calls, suspicious promotional offers, and KYC fraud the app ensures that essential call security does not compete with limited device memory.

Core Functionality and Technical Architecture:
Rather than being a stripped-down build, Truecaller Lite is an independently developed native Android application built from the ground up. It draws from the same global database and fraud detection infrastructure that identified over 68 billion spam and fraud calls in 2025 while maintaining strict privacy standards. Key capabilities include:

Caller Identification: Displays unknown caller identities before answering incoming calls.

Community-Driven Spam Blocking: Blocks fraudulent and unsolicited calls using real-time global community signals.

Integrated Default Dialer: Consolidates call history, contact management, and phone number lookup into a single interface.

After-Call Screen: Displays identity summaries immediately following both incoming and outgoing calls.

To optimize performance and minimize data usage, Truecaller Lite intentionally omits secondary modules such as messaging, voicemail, Family Protection, and the AI Assistant, focusing strictly on core call identification and security.

Leadership Insights and Market Availability:
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, stated: “Scammers don’t check what phone you have before they call, and protection should not depend on it either. Truecaller Lite is built for exactly those phones: it’s the same protection from spam and fraud, in an app small enough to fit and fast enough to stay out of the way.”

Availability: Truecaller Lite is available for free download via the Google Play Store in India exclusively for Android devices with up to 4 GB of RAM, rolling out in phases over the coming weeks.
