Tata Motors Inaugurates Advanced Re.Wi.Re Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Patna

Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable mobility and a circular economy, Tata Motors—India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer—has inaugurated its state-of-the-art Re.Wi.Re (Recycle With Respect) facility in Patna, Bihar. Opened on August 4, 2026, the Registered Vehicle Scrappage Facility (RVSF) was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Transport for the Government of Bihar, Shri Damodar Rawat.

Operated in partnership with the Kalahanu Bothra Group, the facility spans 5.5 acres and boasts an annual capacity to safely and responsibly dismantle up to 15,000 end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) across all brands and segments, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers.

Highlighting the state’s vision for a modern transport ecosystem, Shri Damodar Rawat stated:

“The launch of this Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Patna is a significant step towards safer roads and a cleaner transport ecosystem for the state. In line with the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy, the facility will help phase out old and unfit vehicles in a scientific and responsible manner, while encouraging owners to move to newer, safer and more fuel-efficient vehicles.”

Nationwide Footprint and Technological Infrastructure:
With the addition of the Patna center, Tata Motors now operates 12 vehicle-scrapping facilities across India, with existing locations in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, Raipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.

The Patna Re.Wi.Re center features fully digitalised, paperless operations designed to meet rigorous environmental and safety guidelines under India’s national policy:

Specialized Dismantling Lines: Utilizes cell-type dismantling for commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers, alongside line-type dismantling for passenger vehicles.

Component Safety Stations: Includes dedicated zones for the safe extraction and disposal of hazardous materials and components, such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids, and gases.

Documentation: Every vehicle undergoes meticulous processing to guarantee compliance with statutory vehicle scrapping and environmental regulations.
