Rapido and MoRTH Partner to Mobilize India’s Largest Rider Community for the “Rahveer Scheme”
NEW DELHI: Roppen Transportation Services Private Limited (Rapido), India’s largest and most affordable ride-hailing and mobility platform, has announced a landmark collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH). The partnership aims to drive nationwide awareness and citizen participation for the Government of India’s flagship “Rahveer Scheme,” an initiative designed to encourage immediate, lifesaving assistance to road accident victims during the critical “Golden Hour.”
A Guinness World Record Milestone:
The initiative launched with a massive milestone as over 400,000 Rapido Captains (drivers) and consumers collectively took the Rahveer Pledge via the Rapido app. This incredible feat secured an official Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous safety pledge of its kind. The partnership was formally introduced in New Delhi by Shri Nitin Gadkari, the Honorable Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, alongside senior ministry officials and Aravind Sanka, Co-founder of Rapido.
Minister’s Vision on Shared Responsibility:
During the event, Shri Nitin Gadkari emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility and that citizen participation is absolutely critical to reducing fatalities on Indian roads. He stated that through the Rahveer Scheme, the government seeks to encourage individuals to assist accident victims without hesitation and help save lives during the Golden Hour. He also appreciated Rapido for leveraging its extensive captain community and technology platform to support this important national initiative.
Maximizing the Impact of the Golden Hour:
The “Golden Hour” refers to the first 60 minutes following a traumatic injury, a window where immediate medical intervention drastically improves an accident victim’s chances of survival and recovery. By tapping into Rapido’s footprint across more than 400 cities, the initiative looks to transform everyday motorists into proactive first-responders. Rapido plans to use its entire digital and physical infrastructure including in-app education, driver outreach programs, and social media campaigns to scale up the Rahveer Scheme’s messaging.
Fostering a Culture of Emergency Response:
Commenting on the milestone, Aravind Sanka, Co-Founder of Rapido, noted that millions of Indians interact with Rapido Captains every day, giving the company a unique opportunity to contribute beyond mobility and build awareness around issues of national importance. He added that the overwhelming response from the captain community and the Guinness World Record achievement reflect a shared commitment towards creating safer roads and fostering a culture of responsible action during emergencies.
