Is Dabur Honey a Fraud? FSSAI Says Stop, Court Gives a Twist!
FSSAI objected to Dabur products carrying labels like “100% Pure,” “100% Natural” and “100% Organic.” On August 3, it ordered Dabur to stop selling products including Dabur Honey, Ghee, Virgin Coconut Oil and Organic Honey. FSSAI said such “100%” claims are difficult to prove and could mislead consumers.
Dabur challenged the order in the Delhi High Court. The court has now temporarily stayed the FSSAI order, saying Dabur should have been given a chance to explain its case before the ban. Importantly, FSSAI has not said that Dabur Honey or the other products are unsafe or adulterated. The real question is whether companies can legally use claims like “100% Pure” on their products.
