Nissan India Launches Mid-Size SUV Tekton Starting at ₹10.49 Lakh to Take on Creta and Seltos

Nissan India has officially introduced a new contender in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment with the launch of the ‘Tekton’. Positioned as the most premium SUV in the company’s current domestic lineup, the new model enters the market with an attractive starting price of ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker has already opened the order books for the Tekton, with official customer deliveries scheduled to commence on July 20.

Bold Design and Tech-Forward Cabin
Drawing design inspiration from Nissan’s global SUV portfolio, the Tekton is built to offer a commanding road presence. The company highlights that the new SUV features a bold front grille, striking LED headlamps integrated with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs), and a muscular body design. Complementing its rugged stance, the higher variants ride on large 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Tekton matches the equipment levels expected in a modern premium mid-size SUV. The tech-heavy cabin boasts a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. For enhanced comfort and convenience, the SUV comes packed with built-in Google integration, a wireless smartphone charger, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and adaptive cruise control. Prioritizing passenger protection, the Tekton also boasts a stellar 5-star Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) safety rating. The safety suite is comprehensive, offering six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree surround-view camera, and advanced ADAS features.

Turbo-Petrol Powertrains and Segment Rivals
Under the hood, Nissan is offering the Tekton with two distinct turbo-petrol engine options to suit varying driving preferences. The lineup includes a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 100 HP, as well as a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol unit pushing out 163 HP. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission and a quick-shifting 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). Nissan claims that the SUV delivers an impressive fuel efficiency ranging between 18.5 kmpl and 19.4 kmpl, depending on the chosen powertrain.

With its aggressive pricing and extensive feature list, the Nissan Tekton is geared up to mount a serious challenge against established segment heavyweights. It will directly compete with popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Tata Sierra, and the Renault Duster.
