K.C. Mahindra Education Trust Awards INR 426 Lakh to 92 Scholars for Postgraduate Studies
The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET) has awarded interest-free loan scholarships totaling INR 426 lakh to 92 exceptional scholars under the prestigious K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies. Established in 1956 as the Trust’s very first scholarship program, it was originally designed to help talented Indians acquire knowledge in specialized overseas disciplines not available domestically at the time. Marking its milestone 70th year, the Trust has expanded the scholarship to include students pursuing postgraduate studies within India, reflecting deep confidence in the nation’s evolving higher education ecosystem.
Rigorous Selection Process and Committee Insights:
This year’s cycle generated an overwhelming response, receiving over 1,744 applications nationwide. Following a rigorous multi-stage evaluation, 99 candidates advanced to the final round of interviews held in Mumbai on July 7–8, 2026. The eminent Selection Committee was chaired by Anand Mahindra alongside key trustees and corporate leaders, including Bharat Doshi, Ulhas Yargop, Leena Labroo, Dr. Indu Shahani, Ranjan Pant, Rucha Nanavati, Rohit Thakur, and Farida Balsara. Impressed by the exceptional caliber of applicants, the Trust awarded scholarships ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹12 lakh to all candidates who appeared for the interviews, determined by their academic records and interview performance.

The opening day featured a vibrant networking reception that bridged committee members and scholars, fostering cross-disciplinary conversations and professional connections. Reflecting on the milestone, KCMET Chairman Anand Mahindra noted that meeting the awardees continually renews optimism for India’s future. He highlighted the significance of extending support to students pursuing higher education at both premier global institutions and India’s finest universities, reinforcing the Trust’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
