Hyundai Motor India Sets Target for 20% Women Workforce by 2030 to Drive Inclusive Growth
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced a strategic goal to raise women’s representation within its executive workforce to 20% by 2030. Announced in Gurugram on September 7, 2026, the initiative aims to build a more diverse and future-ready talent pipeline. Women currently make up over 8% of HMIL’s executive workforce of more than 4,000 employees. Furthermore, approximately 45% of young talent hired as Management Trainees and Engineer Trainees in 2026 are women, reflecting shifts in the talent landscape.
MD & CEO Tarun Garg emphasized that fostering diverse experiences and capabilities strengthens teams, drives innovation, and builds organizational resilience. Women are increasingly participating across manufacturing, engineering, R&D, sales, service, corporate functions, and leadership roles.
Comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Framework:
To support this long-term growth, HMIL has deployed a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) framework designed to attract, retain, and develop talent. The agenda is built on several key pillars:
Structured Diversity Hiring: Focuses on gender-balanced recruitment, expanded campus outreach, competency-based assessments, and strengthening leadership representation.
Career Advancement: Features transparent performance evaluations and career growth paths, noting that women achieved a 23% promotion and elevation rate in FY26 alongside expanded learning and mentorship opportunities.
Women @ Work 2.0: Includes comprehensive maternity and parental support, childcare assistance, workplace flexibility, performance continuity safeguards, and reintegration programs.
TrailblazHER Leadership Initiative: Targets high-potential women professionals through focused leadership development, capability building, and career acceleration support.
Infrastructure and Wellness: Provides inclusive facilities such as plant crèche options, dedicated wellness and relaxation rooms, safety and mobility measures, preventive health programs, cancer screenings, and healthcare support.
Aligning with Global Goals and Shaping Automotive Futures:
These strategic initiatives directly support United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 for Gender Equality and SDG 8 for Decent Work and Economic Growth, anchoring HMIL’s broader ESG commitments. As India’s automotive and mobility sectors undergo rapid transformation through advanced manufacturing and digitalization, HMIL maintains that workforce diversity is a critical driver of innovation, problem-solving, and sustainable business competitiveness.
