HCLTech and Rapidus Corporation Partner for Next-Gen Semiconductor Innovation in India
HCLTech, a leading global technology company, has officially partnered with Rapidus Corporation, a Japanese enterprise pioneering advanced logic semiconductors. As part of this strategic alliance, the two companies inaugurated two dedicated HCLTech development centers in Bengaluru and Hubli. These hubs are engineered to support Rapidus’ advanced semiconductor requirements by offering core engineering capabilities, including mask design, design infrastructure, process design kit (PDK) development, design technology co-optimization (DTCO), and layout design.
Building a Talent Pipeline for Japan:
Beyond technical development, HCLTech will collaborate closely with Rapidus to cultivate a robust pipeline of Indian engineering talent. This initiative is designed to address Rapidus’ growing workforce and technical expertise requirements for its operations in Japan, bridging cross-border skill demands and fostering deeper technology cooperation between India and Japan.
Leadership Perspectives on the Collaboration:
Dr. Atsuyoshi Koike, Representative Director and CEO, Rapidus Corporation, stated: “Building a strong engineering ecosystem is essential as Rapidus advances our mission to establish next-generation semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in Japan. Through this collaboration with HCLTech, we expect to access India’s growing pool of semiconductor engineering talent and establish dedicated development capabilities that complement our operations in Japan.”
C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, HCLTech, noted: “Advanced semiconductors will define the technologies of the next decade. This partnership reflects the growing strategic collaboration between Japan and India, bringing together Rapidus’ next-generation semiconductor ambitions with HCLTech’s engineering expertise to accelerate chip adoption, compress time-to-market and lay the foundations for the next era of semiconductor innovation.”
