AM/NS India: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has achieved a significant milestone in its commitment to workforce development by celebrating the graduation of its inaugural MBA batch in Manufacturing Management, conducted in partnership with BITS Pilani.
The convocation ceremony took place at AM/NS India’s flagship plant in Hazira, Surat, and was attended by Chief Guest Shri Anupam Singh Gahlaut, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Surat.
Bridging Education and Industry:
Unlike standard MBA curricula, the program was specifically tailored to meet the rigors of the modern steel sector. It combined traditional management disciplines such as strategic finance, supply chain optimization, and organizational leadership with industry-specific modules including:
- Digital Transformation
- Sustainable Manufacturing Practices
- Data-Driven Decision-Making
Real-World Impact:
The program utilized a Work Integrated Learning Programme (WILP) model, allowing employees to apply academic concepts directly to their professional roles. Graduates from divisions such as Steelmaking and Digital Technology utilized their capstone projects to:
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks.
- Enhance process efficiencies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Leadership Perspective:
Ashutosh Telang, Director & VP – HR & Administration at AM/NS India, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration:
“This milestone reflects our commitment to developing leaders who can seamlessly integrate business insight with technological and operational excellence. Through our collaboration with BITS Pilani, we are strengthening a future-ready talent pipeline.”
Prof. S Gurunarayanan, Dy. Director of Off-Campus Programmes & Industry Engagement at BITS Pilani, added that the partnership aims to equip leaders with the deep understanding of technological evolution and sustainable growth necessary for the modern industrial landscape.
A Culture of Continuous Learning:
This graduation marks the latest success in a broader strategic partnership. Following the successful deployment of a B.Tech program in Process Engineering, AM/NS India continues to prioritize capability building to foster innovation. With multiple batches already underway, the company remains focused on cultivating a leadership pipeline capable of supporting its vision of becoming a world-class, integrated steel enterprise in India.
