TAL Sankranthi Celebrations 2024
Telugu Association of London (TAL) brought the vibrant spirit of Sankranti to East London on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, with a joyous celebration that drew over 300 attendees from London and surrounding areas. The event, held in the heart of East London, was a tapestry of traditional customs and cultural performances, immersing everyone in the festive spirit of Sankranti. The air crackled with excitement as participants engaged in a variety of activities, including Bommala Koluvu, Bhogi Pallu, Rangoli Competition, Cookery Competition, Kite Making Competition etc.,
Mayor of Redbridge Council Cllr Jyotsna Islam, who was the chief guest of the program, lauded TAL's commitment to the community and the wider London landscape. She praised the association's vital service projects and commended its dedication to celebrating cultural diversity.
TAL Chairman Mr. Ravi Sabba expressed his deepest gratitude to parents, members, and dedicated workers for their unwavering support and contributions to every program undertaken by the association. Trustee Mr. Ashok Madishetti shed light on the diverse training classes offered by the TAL Cultural Center (TCC). From traditional dance and music to language instruction, these classes provide a vibrant platform for individuals of all ages to connect with their Telugu heritage.
Cultural Trustee Sreedevi Aleddula expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated subcommittee members: Wajid Basha, Murali Kota numerous other volunteers. Their unwavering commitment and hard work ensured every aspect of the celebration, from the enchanting Bommala Koluvu decorations to the electrifying rangoli competition, was a resounding success. TAL Trustees Anil Anantula, Ravi Kumar Reddy Mocherla, Venkat Neela, Ashok Madishetti and IT- in charge Roy Boppana also lent their invaluable support, ensuring the smooth flow of the event.
The day unfolded like a beautiful tapestry woven with traditional performances, captivating song-and-dance routines, and mouthwatering dishes reflecting the diverse flavours of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Taking centre stage and captivating the audience throughout the joyous celebration was RJ Ratna, whose infectious enthusiasm and impeccable anchoring skills earned her well-deserved applause and warm congratulations from everyone present.
