Elon Musk Is Getting Richer by ₹8,350 Crore a Day. But Nobody Is Paying Him
Most of us wait for our salary day. We check the calendar, pay our EMIs, subscriptions and rent, spend money on food, and then look at the bank balance to see what is left. But Elon Musk’s money game is on a completely different level.
His wealth increased by an average of nearly ₹8,350 crore every single day. Just stop and think about that number for a moment. ₹8,350 crore. In one day.
While we are watching Instagram reels, having coffee, going to college or office, or simply chatting with friends, Musk’s wealth is moving up by thousands of crores.
And naturally, one big question comes up. Bro… who is giving him all this money? Is some company paying him a daily salary? Is the government sending him money? Or does Musk secretly have a money-printing machine somewhere?
Relax. Nobody is giving Elon Musk ₹8,350 crore every day. And that is exactly where this story gets interesting.
The money is not being deposited into Musk’s bank account every day. Instead, the value of the companies he owns is going up. Musk owns large stakes in some of the world’s biggest companies, and when those companies become more valuable, the value of his shares also increases.
Take a simple example. Imagine you own 10% of a startup. If that startup is worth ₹10 lakh, your stake is worth ₹1 lakh. Now imagine the startup’s valuation suddenly rises to ₹1 crore.
You did not work an extra day. Your salary did not increase by even one rupee. But your stake is now worth ₹10 lakh.
That is basically how the wealth game works for Musk too. The difference is that his numbers are on a completely different planet.
And this is where SpaceX becomes extremely important.
Musk owns around 38% of SpaceX. So when SpaceX’s value or share price goes up, the value of Musk’s stake can rise massively. Even a relatively small movement in SpaceX shares can create a huge change in his personal wealth.
The numbers are wild. After SpaceX went public, Musk’s wealth reportedly reached as high as $1.45 trillion, or roughly ₹138 lakh crore.
Yes, you read that right. ₹138 lakh crore.
Later, when SpaceX shares fell, his wealth dropped below $700 billion, or around ₹66.8 lakh crore. Then the shares bounced back, pushing his wealth towards $800 billion, roughly ₹76.4 lakh crore.
So here is the real point: Musk’s wealth is not a salary meter. It is a stock-market meter.
When his companies become more valuable, his wealth rises. When their value falls, his wealth can fall just as quickly.
That is why saying “Elon Musk earns ₹8,350 crore every day” is not completely accurate. A more accurate way to put it is that his net worth increased by an average of around ₹8,350 crore a day over that period.
And that difference matters.
Because Musk is not simply playing the salary game. He is playing the ownership game.
He owns pieces of companies that are trying to build the future — SpaceX, Starlink, AI, satellites and other technology businesses. As these companies become more valuable, his ownership becomes more valuable too.
Musk is already playing this money game at a massive scale. The rest of the world is still learning the rules.
That’s the real Musk story.
