Collector of Hyderabad Launches “Safe With Dogs” Campaign
Safe With Dogs” educates communities to interact safely and confidently with dogs — reducing fear, preventing conflict in public spaces, and fostering empathy and responsible pet parenting.
Hyderabad, November 5, 2025: In a unique initiative to build safer, kinder, and more compassionate communities, Ms Harichandana Dasari, Collector of Hyderabad, launched the “Safe With Dogs” campaign under the aegis of the Department of Medical Health, Government of Telangana. The campaign, conducted in collaboration with the Hyderabad Canine Club (HCC), aims to make Hyderabad a model city for responsible pet ownership and peaceful coexistence between people and dogs, disclosed Mr Philip Butt, Honorary Secretary, Hyderabad Canine Club, in a press note issued here today.
“Safe With Dogs” seeks to educate communities on interacting safely and confidently with dogs, reduce fear and conflict in public spaces, and foster empathy and responsible pet parenting. As part of this initiative, the Club has introduced the “Safe With Dogs Partner Program”, which recognises responsible pet establishments — including pet shops, grooming salons, veterinary clinics, cafés, and boarding centres.
Participating establishments will receive official certification and a ‘Safe With Dogs Partner’ sticker endorsed by the Government of Telangana. They will also be listed in the Hyderabad Safe With Dogs Directory, symbolising their commitment to community safety and animal welfare.
The first batch of partners will be onboarded and trained during the upcoming HyCan Dog Show, scheduled for 8th & 9th November 2025 at OM Convention, Narsingi. Pet businesses and organisations are encouraged to attend the orientation sessions and register at HyCan to join this citywide movement.
“Safe With Dogs is not just about pets — it’s about people,” said a spokesperson from the Hyderabad Canine Club. “By working together, we can make Hyderabad safer and more compassionate for both humans and animals.”
The launch event was attended by Dr Venkat, District Medical & Health Officer (DMHO), along with the Managing Committee of the Hyderabad Canine Club, led by its President and Hon. Secretary, Mr Philip Butt.
