VRV Asia Pacific Pvt. Ltd., located in Sri City, a distinguished subsidiary of Chart Industries, USA, achieved a significant milestone this week by exporting a super-sized liquid oxygen storage tanks to a prominent US private space company. This colossal storage vessel, with an awe-inspiring size of 37 metres in length, 6 metres in diameter, and weighing 200 tonnes, showcases VRV’s engineering prowess and dedication to advancing cryogenic technology.

This achievement underscores VRV’s global leadership in manufacturing high-volume cryogenic storage tanks and its commitment to meeting the unique demands of the aerospace industry. The tank, a fusion of cutting-edge engineering and precision manufacturing, serves as a critical component in space exploration infrastructure, contributing to the storage and transportation of liquid oxygen essential for space missions.

“We are immensely proud to achieve this milestone, solidifying VRV’s position as an industry leader in cryogenic storage solutions,” said Mr. GL. Rangnekar, Managing Director, VRV. “Our team’s expertise, coupled with our state-of-the-art facilities in Sri City, enables us to deliver world-class solutions, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of the aerospace industry, ” he added.

Commending VRV for its admirable commitment to the Atmanirbhar strategy and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy highlighted its crucial role in substituting imports and making significant contributions to global exports. “VRV was the very first company to enter Sri City, and on August 8, 2008, during the Sri City launching ceremony, then Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had formally laid the foundation for the Company,” he recalled.

With almost 15 years of unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in India, VRV specialises in super-sized cryogenic storage tanks, earning a stellar reputation for delivering state-of-the-art solutions to prestigious clients, including the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Notable collaborations include supplying a large liquid hydrogen storage tank with a liquid nitrogen shield to ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR in May 2019. It is pertinent to note that this equipment played its part in our nation’s recent incredibly successful launch of ‘CHANDRAYAAN 3’.

In addition to contributing to the growth of the aerospace industry, VRV played a crucial role during the peak of the COVID-19 crisis, with continuous production and supply of medical grade liquid oxygen storage cylinders and tanks to address oxygen shortages across the nation. VRV assisted Sri City to donate oxygen storage tanks to government hospitals in Tirupati and Nellore district, including SVIMS, BIRRD, and SVRR Hospitals, Tirupati, thanks to timely supplies.

Specialising in the design and manufacturing of products for storage, distribution, and vaporisation of various liquid gases, VRV remains dedicated and focused on advancing cryogenic technology and shaping the future of space exploration.
