DPIIT Joint Secretary Visits Sri City

Mr. Sanjiv, IRS, Joint Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, visited Sri City on Saturday. Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder and Managing Director of Sri City, warmly welcomed the esteemed guest and provided an in-depth overview of Sri City's world-class infrastructure and distinctive features. He emphasised Sri City's rapid emergence as India's leading hub for air conditioner manufacturing, marked by the presence of major AC brands and a robust supply chain.
During his visit, Mr. Sanjiv expressed keen interest in various aspects of Sri City, praising its outstanding industrial infrastructure and business-friendly environment. He highlighted Sri City as a prime example of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, noting that it is the only major green industrial hub in the country that hosts both green and orange industries. Mr. Sanjiv also lauded Sri City's eco-friendly policies, which are designed to enhance quality of life, promote socioeconomic development, and protect the environment while adhering to stringent environmental standards.
Mr. Sanjiv toured several production facilities in the air conditioner manufacturing sector, including Daikin, Amber, Epack, Bluestar, Havells, and Magnum, where he observed the active operations. He noted that some of them are going for next phase of expansion testifying the perfect ecosystem established in the park.
Mr. Sanjiv, along with Dr. Ashish Kumar, another distinguished expert from DPIIT and a leading authority on the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, held an interactive session with the heads of air conditioning manufacturing units and key stakeholders in Sri City. They outlined the key features and benefits of the PLI scheme, encouraging participants to take advantage of it. They also addressed various questions related to the scheme for White Goods.
Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy stated, "Mr. Sanjiv’s visit is highly significant for us, and his insights and suggestions will greatly contribute to the development of our industrial park, especially in the air conditioning manufacturing sector."
Inauguration of Rubber and Tyre Research Lab
Another significant event attended by the Joint Secretary as the chief guest was the launch of the Rubber and Tyre Research Lab (RTRL) at the Indian Rubber Materials Research Institute (IRMRI). Dr. Rajkumar, Director of IRMRI extended a warm welcome. Dr. Manoranjan Patri, Chairman of CEPTAM, DRDO, New Delhi, praised the credibility of IRMRI and remarked that the establishment of the Rubber and Tyre Research Lab in Sri City, which caters to the needs of industries in the southern parts of the country, is a significant milestone in its journey.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Sanjiv emphasised the importance of the lab for the region’s automotive and rubber industries, stating, “This new facility will serve as a unique R&D Center of Excellence, further benefiting the automobile and ancillary industries in the region.”
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy congratulated the IRMRI team, highlighting that the establishment of the Rubber and Tyre Research Lab will significantly strengthen the symbiotic ecosystem of Sri City. He noted that this facility will be a major asset for the region's automotive, tyre, and rubber manufacturing industries.
The lab will offer specialised testing and failure analysis services for rubber products and materials, specifically catering to the automotive and ancillary manufacturing sectors in the region.
