Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy laid Foundation Stone for an additional production unit of Mondelez India Foods, a subsidiary of Mondelez International, in Sri City in virtual mode on Tuesday. Welcoming the Chief Minister and other Senior officials, Mr. Venkat Venepally, Vice President (Supply Chain), Mondelez India thanked the Chief Minister for sparing time to lay the foundation, in spite of his busy schedule, and acknowledged the excellent support and encouragement received from the state  government, district administration and Sri City. “Sri City plant not only contributes to the overall growth of our business in India, but also stands as a model site for sustainability, new innovations and in areas like diversity and inclusion,” he added.

Addressing the gathering the Chief Minister said,”I congratulate the Mondelez India team for going for expansion of their unit in Sri City at an investment of Rs.1,600 crore. I am also glad to note that the new unit would provide employment opportunity for over 500 people, and benefit more than 1,8000 farmers in the state.” The CM thanked Mondelez International India for further investing in the state. The CM appreciated the efforts of Sri City MD for attracting new investments.

While the Chief Minister was unveiling the plaque, Mr. Koneti Adimulam, MLA, Satyavedu, Mr. K. Venkata Ramana Reddy, IAS, District Collector, Tirupati, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, and a host of invitees from other industrial units were present at the Mondelez premises in Sri City, witnessing the ceremony.

Mr. Koneti Adimulam and Mr. Venkata Ramana Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for laying the foundation for a new Mondelez facility that would benefit the people of the district in general and the Satyavedu constituency in particular.

Commenting on the occasion Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy said,”This is the second event in Sri City in which the Hon’ble CM participated, although virtually. On behalf of the Sri City industrial fraternity, I express my heartfelt appreciation and use this opportunity to welcome him to Sri City for the opening of new units that are nearing completion.” He congratulated the entire Mondelez India team on their decision to expand the plant.

Mondelez India, with a portfolio of brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk, Oreo, Bournvita, among others, today hosted a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its manufacturing plant in Sri City. The company, which has already invested Rs.2,500 crores in Sri City and offering jobs close to people, will now invest Rs.1,600 crore more for building an additional unit, to meet the rising demand in India. The investment will add additional chocolate-making capacity over the next three years, helping Sri City to become one of the Mondelez International’s largest chocolate production plants globally.
