Rahul Gandhi’s Sudden Flash Protest for 3 Hours Right Outside the PM’s Residence
Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi staging a sudden flash protest right in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence has become a major topic of discussion and drawn everyone’s attention. This flash protest was conducted to oppose the lathi charge on students who were protesting against the NEET paper leak issue at Jantar Mantar. Congress President Kharge, along with other Congress MPs, also participated in this demonstration. The Congress leaders protested by wearing handcuffs on their hands.
With this, the government went on high alert. The Centre sent Union Minister Jitendra Singh—the most soft-spoken and non-controversial member of the Cabinet—to meet Rahul’s team. He spoke with Rahul Gandhi for a while and requested him to call off the protest. However, Rahul flatly refused to agree. The minister tried to convince Rahul and requested him to end the agitation.
On the other hand, Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed anger against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He lashed out, stating that Rahul went back on his word regarding the discussion on NEET in Parliament. He said it was not right for Rahul to break his word and make two new demands.
“We held talks along with Home Secretary Govind Mohan. Rahul demanded a discussion on NEET in Parliament, and the government announced that it was ready for it. Rahul first agreed and then went back on his word. Now, he is again demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Going back on his word and placing two new demands is not correct,” he stated.
Meanwhile, this flash protest continued for nearly three hours. Finally, the police cleared the area. Rahul, Priyanka, and all the Congress MPs were taken into custody and transported in buses. During this incident, Rahul Gandhi suffered a minor injury.
Rahul and Priyanka Shifted to Separate Police Stations by Police
The police shifted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to separate police stations. In this sequence, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi went to the Mandir Marg Police Station to meet Priyanka, who was held there. Initially, she was not permitted inside, but later the police granted permission. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi was taken to the Chhatrasal Stadium in Model Town.
