Dharmendra Pradhan Resigns from Ministerial Post

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned from his post. He sent his resignation letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Stating that the future of students is important to him rather than controversies, he announced this via X (formerly Twitter). He mentioned that for over the past four decades, he has worked with dedication for students, teachers, and educational reforms.

He stated that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system is the foundation for any nation’s development.

“My young friends, for over four decades, I have worked with dedication towards students, teachers, and educational reforms. I have always believed that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system is the foundation of a strong nation. Emphasizing that fulfilling the dreams of Indian youth is the moral responsibility of the government, he stated, “I deeply respect the aspirations, emotions, and legitimate expectations of the nation’s youth. For all of us in the political and social spheres, bringing the dreams of Indian youth into reality is a moral responsibility. I express my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for giving me the opportunity to work alongside him,” he mentioned in his resignation letter.

Responding to the irregularities regarding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, Pradhan stated that the Union Government took the matter into consideration “immediately” and handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). However, irregularities came to light in the NEET-UG exam held on May 3, 2026. Pradhan recalled in his resignation letter that the Government of India immediately took note of the issue, handed over the investigation to the CBI, cancelled the exam, and also announced the date for the re-examination.
