Centre Takes Steps Towards Reforming NTA… 47 Officials Out

The Central Government has taken key steps towards reforming the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Centre has removed 47 officials working in the NTA. It has been reported that this action was taken as part of a complete overhaul of the NTA, and there is also a possibility of disciplinary action being initiated against some of them. Not stopping at this, the Centre is planning to complete the entire reform process by next month.

Laying off 47 officials serving in the agency, the government has undertaken comprehensive changes in the NTA, which conducts several competitive and recruitment examinations. The Centre has pulled up its sleeves to take strict action against those involved in exam paper leaks. The Union Cabinet has approved a draft bill that fixes severe punishments for paper leaks. The Cabinet approved the draft bill bringing changes to the law that prescribe a maximum penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹10 crore for those responsible for paper leaks.
