Gleneagles Hospital Organizes ‘Ride for a Cause’ Motorbike Rally in Hyderabad to Celebrate World Liver Day 2026
HYDERABAD: To commemorate World Liver Day, Gleneagles Hospital, Lakdi-ka-pul (a member of the Fortis Healthcare Network), hosted a high-energy motorbike rally titled “Ride for a Cause.” Held annually on April 19, the event aimed to bolster public awareness regarding liver wellness and the critical need for early disease detection. This year’s global theme, “Solid Habits, Strong Liver,” served as the focal point, emphasizing how daily lifestyle decisions are the primary defense against liver-related ailments.
The initiative saw an impressive turnout of over 500 participants, including professional motorcycle clubs, corporate employees, and dedicated healthcare workers, all riding in solidarity through the streets of Hyderabad. The rally was officially flagged off by Mr. R. Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Saifabad), alongside a distinguished panel of hepatologists, surgeons, and administrative leaders from Gleneagles Hospital.
A Journey for Awareness:
The convoy commenced at the Gleneagles Hospital campus in Lakdi-ka-pul, navigating through several major city arteries before circling back to the starting point. The sight of hundreds of riders adorned with safety gear and flags carrying liver health messages successfully captured the attention of the public. Beyond liver health, the event also championed road safety, linking the discipline of safe riding with the discipline required for a healthy lifestyle—specifically a balanced diet, consistent exercise, moderate alcohol consumption, and routine medical check-ups.
Throughout the event, the specialized liver care team led by Dr. Kavya Harika Dendukuri (Lead Hepatologist)—actively engaged with the biking community. She was joined by experts including.
- Dr. Tharun Gattu, Senior HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon
- Dr. Manikanteswara Rao, Consultant HPB & Liver Transplant Surgeon
- Dr. G. Victor Vinod Babu, Senior Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist
This medical panel collectively underscored that while advanced treatments exist, regular screening and timely intervention remain the most effective tools to combat the increasing prevalence of liver disease in the region.
