The Telugu Association of Scotland in United Kingdom (TAS-UK) Ugadi celebrations in Edinburgh at Dalkeith Community Campus on March 25th were a resounding success, with over 300 attendees enjoying a variety of performances and activities. Shri Vijay Kumar Parri of TAS-UK greeted the audience and guests, wishing them Shobhakruthu Nama Samvatsara Ugadi, while Sri. Niranjan Nooka and Sri. Rajasekhar Samba greeted attendees at the entrance.

The event, which ran from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., included energetic dance performances, musical solo singings, classical dances, and even a stand-up comedy performance, which was a surprising addition to the TAS’s stage. The background speech for the Ugadi festival and subsequent Ugadi Panchangam recitation deserve special mention because they made attendees feel more connected to our native land and recreated an important annual Telugu tradition. Throughout the event, attendees were treated to a diverse range of performances that kept them engaged and entertained.

TAS-UK was honoured to have Consul General of India Shri. Bijay Selvaraj as the chief guest, who was honoured on an immense level by Smt. Mythili Kemburi, Sri. Siva Chimpiri. He praised TAS-UK’s efforts in teaching Telugu, bicycle programs, and the Sitar project’s performance at the Ugadi event. His presence boosted the event’s success and inspired TAS-UK leaders to continue promoting Telugu culture in Scotland. Smt. Madhavi Latha presented certificates to Silicon Andhra Manabadi students for completing the full course this year, which is a TAS-UK initiative to teach and promote language-related activities. Sri. Pandari Jain Kumar assisted with event publicity and IT, while Sri. Balaji Karnati assisted with cultural performance coordination. Logistics were assisted by Sri. Naresh Deekonda, Sri. Zakir Shaik, and Sri. Venkatesh Gaddam.

The event’s organisers expressed their delight with the turnout and positive feedback from attendees. Sri Uday Kumar Kuchadi thanked everyone who contributed to the event’s success, including the performers, volunteers, sponsors, and chief guest as well as guests from all other neighbouring communities. The event ended on a high note with the Indian national anthem Jana Gana Mana.

We witnessed TAS-UK celebrating 20th anniversary last year!
