Prime Minister Modi’s 76th Birthday & Telangana Liberation Day Celebrated in New Jersey

The Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) organized a grand celebration in Edison, New Jersey, to mark the 76th birthday of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and commemorate Telangana Liberation Day.

The event highlighted Indian culture, national unity, patriotism, and India’s development. Speakers extended their birthday wishes to Prime Minister Modi and discussed his leadership, India’s growing stature on the global stage, and the strong relationship between India and the Indian diaspora.

Members of the Telangana community paid tribute to the courageous freedom fighters who struggled for Telangana’s liberation. OFBJP representatives called for Telangana Liberation Day to be officially commemorated by the Telangana government.

OFBJP Telangana Convener Vilas Reddy Jambula welcomed the attendees and formally opened the program.

OFBJP President Dr. Adapa Prasad stated that Prime Minister Modi’s birthday celebrations were organized across ten OFBJP chapters in the United States. Celebrations were held in several locations, including Washington, D.C.; Houston, Dallas, and Austin in Texas; Columbus, Ohio; the San Francisco Bay Area in California; Naperville, Illinois; Boston, Massachusetts; and Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.

Former OFBJP President Krishna Reddy Enugula spoke about the history of Telangana, its struggle for liberation from the Nizam’s rule, and the sacrifices made by its people. He emphasized the importance of preserving this history and passing it on to future generations.

OFBJP Telangana Convener Vilas Reddy Jambula said that Telangana’s liberation from the autocratic rule of the Nizam and its integration into India through military action are historical facts.

“Why should anyone hesitate to acknowledge this truth? Was Telangana not part of the erstwhile Hyderabad State? Were the struggles led by the Arya Samaj, Hyderabad State Congress, and Communist Party not part of our history? Can anyone deny the atrocities committed by the Razakars, Deshmukhs, and zamindars?” he asked.

Pradeep Reddy Katta said that although India attained independence in 1947, Telangana remained under the Nizam’s rule and endured another 13 months of hardship before its liberation and integration into the Indian Union.

Amar Goswami and Gunjan Mishra noted that September 17 is a significant and rare occasion, as it marks both Hyderabad Liberation Day and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

As part of the celebrations, participants cut a birthday cake and extended their heartfelt wishes to Prime Minister Modi.

The program was attended by Dr. Adapa Prasad, Krishna Reddy Enugula, Vilas Reddy Jambula, Pradeep Reddy Katta, Amar Goswami, Anita Chadha, Amit Pandey, Gunjan Mishra, Sumit Pandey, Nita Doshi, Smita Doshi, and several other community members.

The organizers appreciated Indian Americans for maintaining a strong connection with their homeland by celebrating Indian festivals, national occasions, and historically significant events. The program concluded with patriotic slogans and birthday wishes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
