Kollywood Producer SS Chakravarthy Passes Away
Kollywood producer SS Chakravarthy, who was known for producing films under his banner NIC Arts, passed away on Saturday due to a long-term illness. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai when he breathed his last. The last rites of the producer are scheduled to take place in Chennai.
SS Chakravarthy had produced about 14 films, and among them, nine films were with actor Ajith Kumar. He started his production career with ‘Raasi’ in 1997 and went on to work continuously with the star actor with films like ‘Vaali’, ‘Mugavaree’, ‘Citizen’, ‘Red’, and ‘Villain’. He also produced ‘Kadhal Sadugudu’ in 2003 with Vikram, and later did three more films with Ajith Kumar, namely, ‘Anjaneya’, ‘Ji’ and ‘Varalaru’. Apart from these films, he produced ‘Kaalai’, ‘Renigunta’, ’18 Vayasu’ and ‘Vaalu’.
SS Chakravarthy’s contribution to the Tamil film industry is immense. His production house, NIC Arts, has produced some of the most iconic films in Tamil cinema. He had an eye for talent and was instrumental in launching the careers of many actors, including Ajith Kumar.
Apart from producing films, SS Chakravarthy also made his acting debut with the film ‘Thoppi’ in the year 2015. He played a police officer in the recently released web series ‘Vilangu’, which starred Vemal and Ineya.
The news of his demise has left the film industry in shock. Many actors, directors, and producers have expressed their condolences on social media. Actor Ajith Kumar, who worked with him in nine films, expressed his grief and said that he had lost a dear friend.
SS Chakravarthy’s contribution to the Tamil film industry will always be remembered, and he will be greatly missed. His passing away is a great loss to the film fraternity, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
