Introducing Zarina Wahab As Vijay Sethupathi’s Mother Zubeidaa From Slum Dog

Dynamic director Puri Jagannadh collaborated with versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi for a pan-India action drama Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road which already made enough noise for its promotional material. The film is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under the banner of Puri Connects, in association with JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla’s JB Motion Pictures. Tabu plays a powerful cop, and her character glimpse was also well received.

Today, the team released a heart-touching glimpse, introducing Zarina Wahab’s character as Vijay Sethupathi’s mother named Zubeidaa. The glimpse presents a deeply moving episode from her life, as she recalls a moment when she wanted to end her life at a railway station, only to find herself begging when hunger took over.

The poignant sequence offers a glimpse into the harsh and lesser-seen realities of a beggar’s life, while also bringing out the core emotion at the heart of the film. The scene strikes a chord through its raw and humane portrayal of survival, dignity and a mother’s emotional journey.

Puri Jagannadh is known for his distinctive storytelling and dynamic presentation, but his ability to handle intense emotions has also been evident throughout his career. The introduction of Zubeidaa stands as another example of his strength as a writer and filmmaker, presenting a deeply emotional character through a simple yet powerful situation.

Zarina Wahab delivers a remarkable performance, bringing considerable depth and emotion to the character. Her portrayal adds a strong emotional layer to the narrative. The glimpse also features Vijay Sethupathi and other prominent members of the cast. Samyuktha is the leading lady, while Duniya Vijay, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh play significant roles.
