Don’t Insult the Film Industry Out of Political Grudge Against Pawan Kalyan: Producer Ramky’s Strong Counter to Pasam Yadagiri
Criticizing political leaders is one thing, but using that as a pretext to insult an entire industry and the thousands of families that depend on it is entirely different. Film producer Ramky strongly condemned the comments made by senior journalist Pasam Yadagiri, who, according to him, dragged the film industry into his personal or political animosity toward Pawan Kalyan. Ramky said Yadagiri’s remarks were objectionable and unfortunate, adding that under the guise of being an intellectual, he had unfairly targeted the film fraternity.
Ramky stated that for years many people respected Pasam Yadagiri for his journalistic experience and his role during the Telangana movement. Having witnessed several Chief Ministers and hundreds of political leaders throughout his career, Yadagiri was expected to display greater maturity. However, Ramky questioned why a person with such education and seniority would resort to dragging the film industry into a political dispute instead of confronting Pawan Kalyan politically. He remarked that such cheap comments do not suit Yadagiri’s stature.
“If Pasam Yadagiri has a political grudge against Pawan Kalyan, he should settle it politically. But why spread venom and ignorance against the film industry, which has no connection to the issue?” Ramky asked. He further alleged that attempts to create regional divisions within the industry for political gain only reveal Yadagiri’s arrogance and outdated mindset.
Ramky emphasized that the Telugu film industry has no divisions based on Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. “We are all Telugu people, living and working together as one family,” he said. Apart from visiting their hometowns during festivals, most members of the industry have built their lives in Hyderabad, where they own homes, educate their children, and shape their futures. Therefore, any attempt to divide the industry along regional lines is bound to fail, he asserted.
Responding to claims that the film industry contributes little to Telangana, Ramky questioned whether Yadagiri understood basic economics. He pointed out that thousands of crores circulate through the industry in Hyderabad, generating employment and economic activity. Industry professionals earn, spend, and pay taxes in Telangana. Even major stars who earn huge remunerations pay their taxes in the state and reinvest their earnings into businesses, real estate, and other ventures that contribute to Telangana’s development.
Ramky also noted that many individuals invested hundreds of crores in Hyderabad long before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Even after the state was divided, they did not withdraw their investments. Instead, they continued their businesses with confidence, creating employment opportunities for lakhs of people. He questioned whether such contributions do not make them stakeholders in Telangana’s growth.
Concluding his remarks, Ramky warned that people in the industry would not remain silent when irresponsible statements are made against them. Respecting Pasam Yadagiri’s seniority and his role in the Telangana movement does not mean accepting every statement he makes, he said. Ramky questioned who had given Yadagiri the right to insult an industry that directly and indirectly provides livelihoods to lakhs of people and contributes significantly to the state’s revenue.
“Engage in politics if you wish, but do not target the film industry. Such attacks will not be tolerated. Pasam Yadagiri should withdraw his irresponsible remarks immediately,” Ramky said.
