Director Yadhu Vamsi Nominated for Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film at 56th IFFI
The journey of Committee Kurrollu continues to gather momentum. The film’s debutant director Yadhu Vamsi has earned a prestigious nomination for Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), marking a proud moment for Telugu Cinéma and an exciting milestone for the young filmmaker.
The IFFI recognition places Yadhu Vamsi among a select group of emerging Indian filmmakers whose first works reflect artistic conviction and cultural depth. For a debutant to earn such a nomination at India’s premier film festival, one that celebrates cinematic excellence from across the country, is a defining achievement both for the filmmaker and the team behind Committee Kurrollu.
The film has already enjoyed a remarkable run of recognition. At the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024, Committee Kurrollu won Best Feature Film on National Integration, Communal Harmony and Social Uplift of Depressed Classes and Best Debut Director (Yadhu Vamsi). It then expanded its success overseas at the Gulf Academy Movie Awards (GAMA) 2025 in Dubai, where Niharika Konidela, who presented the film, was honoured as Best Debut Producer, and Yadhu Vamsi once again won Best Debut Director.
Adding to its growing list of honours, Committee Kurrollu also shone at the SIIMA Awards 2025, winning Best Debutant Producer (Telugu) for Niharika Konidela and Best Debutant Actor (Telugu) for Sandeep Saroj. These accolades further solidify the film’s position as one of the most celebrated Telugu debuts in recent years.
Produced by Padmaja Konidela and Jayalakshmi Adapaka, under the banners Pink Elephant Pictures and Shree Radha Damodar Studios, and presented by Niharika Konidela, Committee Kurrollu marks Niharika’s first theatrical film presentation. The film reflects a grounded yet ambitious vision to tell socially resonant stories rooted in local realities with cinematic honesty.
Shot by Edurolu Raju, whose lens captures the earthy hues of the Godavari region, and scored by Anudeep Dev, whose music carries emotional subtlety, the film resonates with authenticity and heart.
Set in a small Andhra village, Committee Kurrollu explores how a simple disagreement among a group of close friends snowballs into a rift that exposes deeper issues of caste, class, and moral conscience. The film features an ensemble of promising newcomers — Sandeep Saroj, Trinadh Varma, P. Sai Kumar, Goparaju Ramana, Raadhya, Prasad Behara, Manikanta Parasu, Lokesh Kumar Parimi, and Yaswanth Pendyala — each adding raw freshness to the narrative.
The film’s recognitions so far include:
• Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024 – Best Feature Film on National Integration, Communal Harmony and Social Uplift of Depressed Classes; Best Debut Director (Yadhu Vamsi)
• GAMA 2025 (Dubai) – Best Debut Producer (Niharika Konidela); Best Debut Director (Yadhu Vamsi)
• SIIMA 2025 – Best Debutant Producer (Telugu) (Niharika Konidela); Best Debutant Actor (Telugu) (Sandeep Saroj)
• IFFI 2025 (Goa) – Nominee: Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film
For Yadhu Vamsi, the IFFI nomination is not just recognition, it’s validation of a filmmaker with a clear voice and sensitivity beyond his years. For Niharika Konidela, presenting a project that continues to earn national and international acclaim reinforces her intent to champion meaningful, content-driven Cinéma.
As Committee Kurrollu heads to IFFI, the team stands proud of the film’s journey — from the heartlands of Godavari to the global stage — carrying forward its message of friendship, unity, and social awareness.
