Orange Retail Finance and Shriram Finance Partner for a ₹100 Crore Co-Lending Gold Loan Program in Tamil Nadu
Orange Retail Finance India Private Limited (ORFIL), an RBI-registered Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) rated ICRA BBB (Stable), has signed a strategic co-lending agreement with Shriram Finance Limited to provide accessible gold loans across Tamil Nadu. Backed by a total financial program cap of ₹100 crore, the partnership aims to jointly originate and fund loans secured against gold jewellery. Under this framework, the funding and participation ratio is structured at 20% for ORFIL and 80% for Shriram Finance. Borrowers can benefit from flexible repayment options, choosing either a bullet repayment structure for tenures up to 12 months or an EMI-based repayment plan for up to 36 months.
Expanding Reach in Rural and Tier-3 Markets:
The collaboration leverages ORFIL’s robust on-ground presence and deep market understanding across rural, semi-urban, and Tier-3 regions. Operating a network of 58 branches spanning Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Kerala, ORFIL brings strong customer engagement and loan servicing capabilities to the table. Kiran Vedula, Chief Business & Operations Officer at Orange Retail Finance, noted that the partnership successfully combines their local distribution network with Shriram Finance’s massive institutional scale. Echoing this sentiment, Ebenezer Daniel G, MD & CEO of ORFIL, emphasized that the alliance builds upon an existing, trusted working relationship and will significantly scale up their gold loan operations.
Enhancing Credit Access in Underserved Regions:
Highlighting the broader vision of the initiative, Muruganandha Pandiyan V, Deputy Managing Director at Shriram Finance Limited, stated that combining Shriram’s scale with Orange’s localized outreach in rural and Tier-3 Tamil Nadu allows both institutions to effectively widen credit access in underserved geographies. This milestone agreement further strengthens ORFIL’s secured lending portfolio which encompasses MSME loans against property and gold loans paving the way for deeper financial inclusion and community-focused credit growth.
