Next Bharat Ventures Launches INR 2,000 Crore Impact Venture Fund
Next Bharat Ventures IFSC Private Limited has officially announced the launch of its second fund, valued at INR 2,000 crore, making it one of the largest impact-focused venture funds in India. This initiative aims to expand support for “Impact Entrepreneurs” who are working to improve the quality of life and create sustainable livelihoods across rural India, as well as for migrated and urban marginalized communities. The fund will be anchored by Suzuki Motor Corporation.
Investment Focus and Strategy:
The fund focuses on supporting enterprises within critical sectors, including agriculture, rural supply chains, financial inclusion, healthcare, rural mobility, and AI for social good. This initiative is closely aligned with India’s national priorities, specifically Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047, by supporting local enterprises that foster employment, enhance farmer incomes, strengthen rural value chains, and promote women-led entrepreneurship.
Building on Past Success:
This launch follows the successful performance of Next Bharat’s initial INR 340 crore fund, which demonstrated the effectiveness of a long-term, patient-capital approach for rural entrepreneurs. Through that first fund:
Next Bharat has supported more than 50 impact startups.
Capital, mentorship, and ecosystem support have been provided to over 20 of these startups.
Over 90% of the portfolio companies are already moving toward profitability in their early years.
Several of these startups have initiated business pilots with companies in Japan.
Ecosystem and Support for Founders:
Since its establishment in 2024, Next Bharat Ventures has provided comprehensive support to founders beyond mere capital investment. Key elements of their support ecosystem include:
Residency Programme: A flagship ten-day residency program that provides early-stage entrepreneurs with mentorship, networks, and equity investments ranging from INR 1–5 crore to help them scale.
The Why Club: A founder-led community launched by Next Bharat to foster collaboration, funding, and long-term support for impact entrepreneurs.
Through these initiatives, Next Bharat has invested in several successful brands, such as MeMeraki, a folk art marketplace; E-Bik, a rural mobility brand; SGB Agro, which offers affordable farm mechanization; and Atypical Advantage, India’s largest platform for PwD livelihoods.
