Instamart and Kalyan Jewellers Launch Gold Rate Protection
Hyderabad: In a landmark move for Indian quick commerce, Instamart has partnered with Kalyan Jewellers to introduce a first-of-its-kind Gold Rate Protection feature. Launched ahead of Akshaya Tritiya—a festival synonymous with prosperity and gold—this initiative allows consumers to lock in current gold rates, ensuring they benefit from the lowest possible price on the day of the festival.
Innovative Pricing: The “Lowest Rate” Guarantee
The standout feature of this collaboration is the price-lock mechanism. Customers can pre-book their gold coins and, on the day of delivery, they will pay whichever is lower: the rate at the time of booking or the prevailing market rate on Akshaya Tritiya.
How the Pre-booking Process Works:
Booking Window: Between April 10 and April 16, 2026.
Advance Payment: Customers pay a 5% advance (starting as low as ₹500 for a 0.5 gm coin).
Completion: On April 19 (Akshaya Tritiya), between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM IST, the purchase is finalized at the lower rate.
Added Value: All pre-booking customers will receive a complimentary silver coin from Kalyan Jewellers.
Elevating Quick Commerce Beyond Convenience
While Instamart is widely known for rapid grocery delivery, this partnership marks a strategic shift toward high-value, culturally significant purchases. Arjun Choudhary, VP of Growth at Instamart, noted that the feature is designed to give consumers “greater confidence” during festive shopping, moving beyond simple convenience to offer genuine financial value.
Ramesh Kalyanaraman, Executive Director of Kalyan Jewellers, highlighted that while gold rate protection has long been a staple in their physical showrooms, bringing this feature to a quick commerce platform like Instamart reflects the evolving shopping habits of modern Indian traditions.
A Surge in Trusted Digital Purchases
The demand for precious metals via digital platforms is skyrocketing. Last year, Instamart recorded a 500% surge in gold and silver coin sales during Akshaya Tritiya compared to Dhanteras. This trend underscores a growing trust in platforms that offer BIS Hallmarked, 24 Karat gold with the convenience of lightning-fast delivery.
By blending the traditional trust associated with the Kalyan Jewellers brand with the tech-driven agility of Instamart, this initiative ensures that the “auspicious beginning” of Akshaya Tritiya is both seamless and price-protected.
