HCCB Drives Smart Rural Infrastructure Boost in Srikalahasti
SRIKALAHASTI : In a major boost to clean energy and rural development, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has deployed electric vehicle (EV) waste-collection trucks and inaugurated an RO water filtration plant in Andhra Pradesh. Launched under the company’s flagship community partnership initiative, Project SHINE, these targeted interventions aim to significantly upgrade sanitation and public health infrastructure across the Srikalahasti region.
Cleaner Villages with Eco-Friendly EV Fleets:
The newly deployed EV waste-collection vehicles were officially handed over to the local Gram Panchayats of Cherlopalli, Thondamanadu, and Kapugunneri. The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Srikalahasti MLA Shri Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy, alongside local administrative officials.
These eco-friendly trucks are set to cover approximately 50 waste-collection routes, streamlining door-to-door waste management and modernizing municipal services in these rural pockets.
Pure Drinking Water and Upgraded Childcare Facilities:
As part of its ongoing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) goals, HCCB has set up an reverse osmosis (RO) filtration unit in Kalujumitta, located within the Challapalem Gram Panchayat. The unit provides immediate access to clean, safe drinking water for local residents, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases.
Furthering its community welfare footprint, HCCB also handed over a completely renovated Anganwadi center at Katrakayala Gunta Village in Yerpedu Mandal. The modernized facility is designed to provide a better learning environment and enhanced healthcare support for early childhood development.
A Model for Public-Private Partnership:
Extending his support to the initiative, Srikalahasti MLA Shri Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy emphasized that strengthening the rural economy remains a core priority for the state government. He noted that collaborative efforts with companies like HCCB accelerate progress and help meet local infrastructure needs efficiently.
Himanshu Priyadarshi, Chief Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability Officer at HCCB, reiterated the company’s core belief that India’s overarching growth begins in its villages. Through Project SHINE, HCCB plans to continue working alongside government stakeholders and local panchayats to scale up sustainable waste management, empower women and youth through skill building, and drive long-term inclusive growth across Andhra Pradesh.
