TAGC Celebrates International Women’s Day with a Glamorous Magazine Cover Page Theme!
The Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC), the first Telugu association in North America, hosted a resounding success with its Magazine Cover Page themed event to celebrate International Women's Day on March 9th, 2024. Held at the exquisite Shalimar Banquets, Addison, IL, this grand gathering brought together over 600 women from diverse parts of Chicagoland for an unforgettable evening of Glam Gala! Women across different diverse communities have joined for this event, which became a Pan world event.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries including TAGC President 2024, Sri. Santhosh Konduri, Smt. Lavanya Konduri, Women’s Day Chair Smt. Prasanna Kandukuri, and Co-chairs Smt. Swapna Lingala, Smt. Nishigandha Geebu, and Smt. Tulasi Vemula. The event was graced by the presence of other prominent TAGC Women Board of Directors such as Smt. Archana Poddutoori, Smt. Madhavi Rani Konakalla, Smt. Neelima Cheikycharla, Smt. Sirisha Madduri, Smt. Swetha Chinnari, and Smt. Vinitha Podduturi.
The attendees embraced the occasion as a prime opportunity to network and connect with fellow women, fostering new relationships and avenues for collaboration.
The event was elevated by the vivacious presence of the emcee, Veena Yelamanchali, who effortlessly captured the crowd's attention and became an instant favorite. Her infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy brought the event to life, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and celebration. Throughout the evening, Veena ensured an engaging and entertaining atmosphere, keeping the audience enthralled with her dynamic presence and charismatic charm.
The focal point of the main stage was meticulously crafted to center around and celebrate the presence of women as the primary stars of the event. Every aspect of the design, from its layout to its visual elements, was carefully curated to showcase the talent, achievements, and significance of women in a prominent and empowering manner.
Attendees eagerly anticipated a plethora of exhilarating games, enticing member gifts, and thrilling gold coin raffles, each offering the chance to win incredible prizes and create unforgettable memories. From interactive challenges to exclusive giveaways, the event promised an abundance of excitement and rewards for all participants.
Women enthusiastically participated and relished the rhythm-infused reels contests, immersing themselves in on-the-spot solo competitions featuring trendy songs, intricate hook steps, and expressive Navarasa emotions with dialogues. Their energy and passion added an extra layer of excitement to the event, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Women proudly took to the runway in the Stride of Empowerment Fashion Show, showcasing not just fashion but also their strength, unity, and diverse talents. Each strut down the catwalk was a celebration of empowerment, highlighting the resilience and solidarity among women. From elegant attire to bold statements, the fashion show was a vibrant tribute to the multifaceted achievements and spirit of women.
Distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Radhika Chimata, delivered an enlightening keynote address on Mental health awareness for women, and road to well-being, while Police Officer Sobanski shared insights on Fundamental precautions to prevent unforeseen incidents and Self-defense strategies during fight - or - fight situations, adding to the evening's inspiration.
One of the most poignant highlights of the event was the heartfelt recognition of remarkable Women as pioneering leaders and trailblazers, whose unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements have left an indelible mark on our hearts and society.
Participants enthusiastically explored a captivating array of offerings as they embarked on a shopping expedition, browsing through over 15 women-related vendor booths. From fashion accessories to artisan crafts, beauty products, and more, the event provided a delightful shopping experience with something to suit every taste and preference.
The culinary extravaganza was an absolute sensation, with a mesmerizing foggy welcome drink setting the tone, an indulgent chocolate fountain, live samosa and bhel puri stations, and a tantalizing array of dishes and desserts that delighted guests. Special thanks to our incredible food committee Mr. Srinivas Nagireddy and Mr. Chandu Kurupati and caterer #bawarchinaperville for making this unforgettable experience possible! - The Men BOD team Mr. Venkat Gunuganti, Mr. Param Yarasani, Mr. Ramana Kalva, Mr. Sridhar Alavala, Mr. Srujan Nainappagari, Mr. Lakshmi Narayana Thotakura, Mr. Venu Cherukrui, Mr. Shashi Chava and Mr. Ramakanth Jonnala helped the food team in managing such a large crowd and ensured smooth running of the event.
Continuing our longstanding tradition of giving back to the community, this year's event proceeds supported the noble cause of Vaidehi Seva Samithi, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a nurturing home for orphaned girls in Hyderabad. Established in 1993, this ashram serves as a sanctuary for these girls, offering parental care, education, and guidance for their future endeavors, including employment. By addressing the ongoing challenges faced by women and children, this initiative embodies the spirit of compassion and empowerment. The overwhelming response and generous contributions from attendees made this fundraising effort one of the most successful in TAGC's history.
The event's success was greatly enhanced by the generous contributions of our sponsors, including Regal Jewelers, Tanishq, Andaaz Jewelers, Avigna Jewelry, and PM Consulting, among others. Regal Jewelers, Tanishq, and Andaaz Jewelers sponsored the gold coin/jewelry certificates for the raffle tickets, adding excitement and prestige to the event. Additionally, Avigna Jewelry's sponsorship of the 360 photo booth provided attendees with a memorable and interactive experience. We are also grateful to Kalyani Jonnavithula, owner of PM Consulting, for sponsoring return gifts for every participant, ensuring that everyone felt appreciated and valued. Different gifts were given for members and non-members. Their meticulous attention to detail and creative flair transformed the venue into a captivating spectacle, enticing the audience to showcase their glamorous ensembles and immerse themselves in the essence of the glam gala event.
A big thank you to MRK Decors for providing the incredible 360 photo booth, which added an extra dimension of fun to the event and was a huge hit among all the attendees.
Photographer Sadish and his talented team skillfully captured the enchanting moments at the main stage and various photo booths, providing attendees with the opportunity to express their glamour and elegance. Their expertise and creativity resulted in mesmerizing photographs that beautifully encapsulated the essence of the event. Through their lens, women were able to showcase their unique style and grace, adding to the overall allure of the occasion.
As the Women's Day celebrations reached their crescendo, the ambiance surged with exhilaration during a pulse-pounding dance party. DJ Sandeep's dynamic beats electrified the atmosphere, beckoning attendees to the dance floor. With each pulsating rhythm, guests unleashed their inner dance enthusiasts, moving in sync to the music's infectious energy. The air was filled with laughter, joy, and a sense of camaraderie as the dance party became the heart of the festivities, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
The TAGC Team extends heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated Youth volunteers whose invaluable support contributed significantly to the success of our event. From assisting at various photo booths to orchestrating engaging games and lending a hand at food serving stations, their enthusiasm and commitment were truly commendable. Their involvement played a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
