Mindspace Eco Run 2.0: 4,200 Runners Hit the Streets of Madhapur for a Greener Tomorrow
HYDERABAD: The streets of Madhapur, the city’s prominent IT corridor, were transformed into a sea of enthusiasm and purpose on Sunday morning. The second edition of the Mindspace Eco Run 2.0, organized by Mindspace REIT in collaboration with Radio Mirchi, concluded on a grand note. Blending the spirit of fitness with environmental consciousness, the event saw a massive turnout of over 4,200 runners, all coming together for a sustainable cause.
The run featured three distinct categories: a 21-kilometer Half Marathon, a 10-kilometer run, and a 5-kilometer fun run. From seasoned marathoners and corporate professionals to families and young children as young as eight, the event catered to all age groups. Celebrities Divi Vadthya, Harsh Roshan, and Sridevi Appalla flagged off the races, while energetic Mirchi RJs kept the morale high with their lively commentary and music.
Prioritizing the Planet
What set the Mindspace Eco Run 2.0 apart was its deep-rooted commitment to the environment. Every aspect of the race kit was designed to be eco-friendly, featuring plantable bibs (which can be sown in soil to grow plants) and organic jerseys. To eliminate single-use plastics, the organizers provided refillable water stations and served breakfast using biodegradable cutlery, emphasizing a zero-waste philosophy.
Turning Waste into Classroom Comfort
In a unique social initiative, the organizers announced that the waste collected during the event would not end up in a landfill. Instead, it will be upcycled into durable chairs. These upcycled furniture pieces will be donated to underprivileged students in schools supported by the Nirmaan NGO. This initiative highlights how large-scale community events can leave a lasting positive footprint on both the environment and society.
Speaking on the success of the event, Shrawan Kumar Gone, COO of K Raheja Corp (AP & Telangana), stated that the Eco Run 2.0 reflects their core commitment to integrating sustainability into every development. He noted that the event is more than just a marathon; it is a platform to demonstrate how collective community action can drive meaningful change.
Furthermore, a Sustainability Flea Market held prior to the race day provided employment opportunities for women from economically backward sections and persons with special abilities. Ultimately, Mindspace Eco Run 2.0 has strengthened the movement toward mindful living and community wellness in Hyderabad.
