Justice T. Amarnath Goud, Judge of the High Court of Tripura, was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Letters) by Maharaja Bir Bikram University at a special convocation ceremony held in Agartala, Tripura on Thursday. The honour was bestowed in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the judiciary.

The honorary degree was presented to Justice Amarnath Goud during the university’s first convocation by Tripura Governor Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

Justice T. Amarnath Goud, who hails from Hyderabad, previously served as a judge in the Telangana High Court before being transferred to the Tripura High Court. He is currently the Executive Chairman of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority and has also served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court for a period of six months.

Justice Goud garnered national attention when he disposed of an astounding 92,000 cases, averaging 109 cases per day. Notably, 99.9% of these judgments went unchallenged, reflecting high levels of acceptance and satisfaction among both litigants and legal professionals. Of these, 362 judgments have been officially reported.
