PM Modi’s Speech: Here are the “Saptadhara” (Seven Streams)

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort. Subsequently, he delivered a key address to the nation. He confidently declared that a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) would be achieved by 2047. He also stated that the nation is moving forward with the goal of achieving an “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India). As part of this, he unveiled the “Saptadhara”—the seven primary driving forces that will lead the country. He announced that these seven sectors will serve as the growth drivers for India across all spheres.

Manufacturing The Prime Minister declared that manufacturing will greatly contribute to the country’s next phase of growth and serve as a strong foundation. He called upon India to focus not just on producing small spare parts, but on manufacturing complete products. To position India as a key player in the global supply chain, he emphasized focusing on three aspects: cost, quality, and production volume.

Agriculture & Food Security The second element of Saptadhara is agriculture and food security. PM Modi highlighted the priority of the agricultural sector in the country’s development journey. He stated that food production and agriculture will always remain central to economic growth. He called for strengthening the agricultural sector and further boosting production.

Technology & Innovation The third stream in Saptadhara is technology and innovation. He noted that the world is entering an era of data centers, robotics, and emerging technologies. PM Modi urged India to become a global hub in these fields. He mentioned that India has already proven its technological capability to the world through the success of UPI and called for expanding 6G technology to all regions.

Infrastructure PM Modi named infrastructure as the fourth stream. He stressed increasing connectivity through PM Gati Shakti. Roads and highways are crucial for expanding business, improving logistics, and promoting trade, and he pledged continuous support for their development.

Defense Power (Raksha Shakti) The fifth stream is defense power. He stated that the focus is on reducing dependence on defense imports and strengthening domestic manufacturing, describing this as a major milestone in the defense sector. He specifically highlighted the focus on technologies like drones and counter-drone systems.

Green Energy PM Modi stated that green energy is the sixth stream of Saptadhara. He affirmed that high priority is being given to environmental protection. Innovations in clean energy technologies are essential to meet energy needs, and swift steps must be taken to expand the renewable energy sector.

India’s Soft Power PM Modi stated that this will play a key role in transforming the country into a fully self-reliant Viksit Bharat by 2047. Yoga, handicrafts, animation, gaming, digital content, and creative sectors are the main pillars of India’s soft power. He added that there are immense opportunities in India’s tourism sector and called for greater efforts to attract foreign tourists.
