Kochi Water Metro uses ‘Made @ Sri City’ FRP products

“Proud of BFG for supporting esteemed projects in the country”- Sri City MD
The superstructure and all interior components of the Kochi Water Metro, which was dedicated to the country on April 25 by the honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, are ‘Made @ Sri City’ FRP products produced by BFG India. This is the first integrated water transport system of this size and scope in Asia, as well as the very first water metro in India.
The mega-sized Fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP – also called fibre-reinforced polymer) superstructure, created using the vacuum infusion method, is 25 metres in length, 6.5 metres in width, and 2.5 metres in height. The carrying capacity of this catamaran ferry is 100 people. The superstructure and all its interiors, which are realised at BFG’s facility in Sri City, are assembled and integrated at Cochin Shipyard Ltd.
Lauding BFG India’s contribution to Kochi Water Metro, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City said,”It is very heartening to note that BFG’s ‘made @ Sri City’ FRP products are used on Kochi Water Metro project and other prestigious projects – Vande Bharat Express and most of the metro projects in the country. Being ‘home’ for numerous multinational and Indian manufacturing industries in diverse sectors, Sri City stands out as a true manifestation of ‘Make in India’ campaign.”
Also, as part of its strategic partnership with Alstom India, BFG supplies FRP parts, including interiors, front ends, driver cabs, side walls, central ceilings, lateral ceilings, gangway partitions, and cab partitions, etc., for the metro rolling stock of Kochi, Chennai, Lucknow, Mumbai-3, Sydney, Montreal metro projects, and also Vande Bharat Express.
