Kareena Kapoor’s Career Takes a New Turn with South Star Collaborations

Kareena Kapoor Khan has completed 26 years in the film industry, and at 45, the actress continues to explore fresh roles and new on screen pairings. Her upcoming film Daiyra, scheduled for release on September 18, marks her first collaboration with Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran. The duo will be seen as police officers in the film.

Having previously worked with Bollywood’s biggest stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, Kareena’s pairing with a major South Indian star signals an interesting shift in her career.

The trend could continue beyond Daiyra. There has been discussion around a potential Hindi project featuring Kareena and Tamil star Dhanush, with Sanjay Leela Bhansali backing the project. Director PS Mithran recently revealed that discussions regarding the actors’ dates are underway, although the casting is yet to be finalised. If the project materialises, Dhanush and Kareena will also be sharing the screen for the first time.

Kareena’s recent choices already reflect a willingness to step outside her conventional commercial image. From making her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan and taking on a distinct role in Crew to returning to the mainstream commercial space with Singham Again, the actress has been experimenting with both roles and platforms.

Her potential collaborations with Prithviraj and Dhanush further highlight the growing trend of cross industry casting, with Bollywood and South Indian cinema increasingly bringing established stars together. For Kareena, it could mark an exciting new phase in a career that has already spanned more than two decades.
