Godrej Enterprises Group Launches ‘Udaan’ to Empower MSMEs in Manufacturing

Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has officially launched ‘Udaan’, a pioneering supplier capability-building initiative. Debuting in Aligarh, the programme is designed to fortify India’s manufacturing ecosystem by elevating Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through targeted capability development and operational excellence. Following its initial rollout, the initiative is slated for expansion across ten major cities as a core component of a broader supplier advancement strategy.

Core Objectives and Curriculum:
The Udaan programme bridges industry expertise with practical implementation by introducing a specialized Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) curriculum tailored specifically for MSMEs, developed alongside the CII TPM Club of India. Participating supplier partners gain direct access to expert TPM consultants who guide on-ground execution. Utilizing a cluster-based methodology, the curriculum focuses on:

Eliminating operational losses and optimizing resource productivity

Strengthening internal processes and manufacturing workflows

Cultivating a workplace culture centered on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Evaluation and Recognition:
To ensure measurable progress and long-term impact, participant development is closely tracked through periodic assessments, quarterly reviews, and factory audits carried out by industry experts and CII representatives. Upon successful completion of the programme, supplier partners receive formal recognition from both Godrej Enterprises Group and CII, validating their operational achievements and enhanced competitiveness.

Industry Leadership and Vision:
As the inaugural enterprise in the hardware sector and one of a select few nationwide to roll out a structured TPM excellence framework across its supply chain, GEG is setting a new benchmark for corporate responsibility.

Mr. Pushkar Gokhale (Business Head, Security Solutions Business, GEG) emphasized that strengthening the supply chain is vital for realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat. He noted that GEG’s 129-year legacy of nation-building drives its mission to equip supplier partners with world-class manufacturing standards.

Major Neil Castelino (Chief, CII Institute of Quality) highlighted that MSMEs form the backbone of domestic manufacturing. He stated that combining industry experience with CII-IQ’s expertise builds robust enterprises characterized by enhanced quality, reliability, and productivity.

Foundation and Future Impact:
The launch builds upon a solid six-year foundation of nurturing supplier partners in Aligarh. These enterprises previously completed the Partnership Competitiveness Programme (PCP), secured Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification, and pursued Lean Manufacturing Certification. GEG’s sustained commitment to regional enterprise development was recently honored by Laghu Udyog Bharati, Aligarh, with the ‘Outstanding Contribution to MSME Development in Aligarh’ award. Through Udaan, GEG continues to foster a resilient, innovative, and globally competitive manufacturing value chain for India.
