EMotorad to Establish Electric Cycle Manufacturing Facility in Kuppam; Signs MOU with Andhra Pradesh Government
TIRUPATI/KUPPAM — EMotorad, India’s leading electric cycle brand, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to construct a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Kuppam. Under the region’s green developmental roadmap, the Pune-headquartered EV major has been allotted a 7-acre site to establish the factory.
The industrial project is being executed in active coordination with the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA) as part of a broader, high-profile sustainable development master plan spearheaded by KADA and IIT Kanpur. Beyond scaling up domestic production capacity, the mega-facility is structurally designed to generate extensive employment opportunities and technical skill development for the local community.
Driving the Kuppam Green City Initiative
The manufacturing unit serves as a hallmark EV project under the state government’s specialized “Green City Initiative,” which focuses on implementing cleaner, smarter urban planning. EMotorad joins a select group of global and national conglomerates chosen to anchor Kuppam as an emerging hub for sustainable industrial growth. Other prominent corporate entities participating in this sustainable development cluster include:
Mother Dairy (Major Dairy Products Enterprise)
Adidas (Global Sportswear Brand)
Hindalco (Aditya Birla Group’s Aluminum and Copper Major)
The setting up of this plant directly merges clean tech mobility, domestic electronics and mechanical manufacturing, and regional job creation into a single, cohesive industrial framework.
Corporate Alignment and Leadership Insights
The expansion into Andhra Pradesh follows a significant milestone for the company earlier this year, when EMotorad set a world record during a performance campaign held within the Kuppam region.
Commenting on the manufacturing expansion, Kunal Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of EMotorad, highlighted the deep-rooted corporate interest in the area:
“Kuppam holds a special place in EMotorad’s journey. It’s where we set our world record earlier this year, and that moment stayed with us. It made us want to put down roots here, not just pass through. Setting up this facility is just an indication of our intentions for a city that has given us so much. Beyond manufacturing, this is about building something lasting for the people of Kuppam—real jobs, real infrastructure, and a stake in India’s clean mobility future. We’re deeply thankful to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu Garu for his leadership behind the Green City Initiative and for trusting us to be part of that story.”
Expanding the Domestic EV Ecosystem
EMotorad has steadily solidified its dominant market position in the Indian micro-mobility market by engineering a diverse portfolio of electric cycles optimized for urban daily commuters, college students, fitness enthusiasts, and outdoor adventure riders.
The output from the upcoming Kuppam plant will supplement EMotorad’s existing manufacturing nodes, scaling up the output of affordable, smart-connected electric cycles for consumers across Andhra Pradesh and the wider Indian market. The strategic multi-crore investment aligns directly with national manufacturing goals, marking an essential step forward in positioning India as a highly competitive global manufacturing hub for alternative electric mobility solutions.
