Axis Bank and BITS Pilani Partner for New ₹100 Cr Innovation Park
Axis Bank: In a landmark move to accelerate India’s deep-tech and translational research capabilities, Axis Bank and the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani have announced a strategic partnership to establish the Axis Bank BITS Industry Research, Technology & Innovation Park. Backed by a ₹100 crore CSR grant from Axis Bank, this state-of-the-art facility will be located at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus.
A Hub for Future-Ready Innovation:
Strategically situated within Telangana’s vibrant life sciences corridor near Genome Valley, the park is designed to function as an integrated launchpad for industry-academia collaboration. The 120,000 sq. ft. facility will house cutting-edge laboratories, incubation centers, and shared research spaces. Its primary mission is to foster an environment where academia, startups, and MSMEs can co-design and co-create solutions, particularly in the fields of:
- Life Sciences & Biopharma
- Healthcare & Medical Devices
- Deep-Tech Research
Powering National Priorities:
The initiative is deeply aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) and ‘Make in India’ vision. By bridging the gap between theoretical research and commercial application, the partnership aims to lower the costs of healthcare solutions, making them more accessible to the public at large.
While BITS Pilani will spearhead the governance and research agenda, providing access to its deep academic expertise and talent pool, Axis Bank’s contribution will focus on developing the robust infrastructure required to support high-impact innovation.
Leadership Perspectives:
The leadership from both organizations emphasized the long-term impact of this collaboration:
“The Research Park will help BITS Pilani deepen its work in cutting-edge research and entrepreneurship, while also contributing to solutions that can make a meaningful difference to society.” Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor, BITS Pilani
“At Axis Bank, we believe that the future of inclusive and sustainable progress lies at the intersection of knowledge, innovation, and purpose.” Mr. Amitabh Chaudhry, MD & CEO, Axis Bank
“The Axis Bank BITS Research Park will help us build an ecosystem that supports faculty-led innovation, nurtures doctoral research, and prepares our students to solve complex problems at scale.” Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, Vice-Chancellor, BITS Pilani
This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in India’s innovation landscape, setting a new benchmark for how industry-backed research parks can effectively translate academic breakthroughs into real-world, scalable impact.
