Sri City observes International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

To create awareness and instil a sense of responsibility among the employees and the general public about the adverse effect of the drug abuse, the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed in Sri City on Monday. The local Police and the Sri City Security Department jointly organised an awareness session on ‘dangers of drug abuse its effect on health, and ill effects on society’ at Isuzu Motors India.
Speaking about dangers of drug abuse Mr. Bhaskar, Circle Inspector of Police, highlighted its adverse effect on health, factors which lead to drug addiction and ways to prevent it. Also he spoke about the ill effects of drug menace on society. He solicited for the cooperation of all in controlling the drug trafficking. On the occasion an anti drug pledge was read out by the participants.
Thanking Sri City police and Isuzu for taking the initiative, Mr. Y. Ramesh, Head, Sri City Security & Vigilance said,”Drug abuse is one of the major issues that the world is struggling with and which needs to be completely eliminated from the society. It is imperative that we all should strengthen the efforts of police as a moral responsibility and strive towards eradication of the menace of drug abuse.”
Every year, the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed on June 26. The main aim of this day is to spread awareness about the physical and psychological impact of substance abuse, drug overdose deaths, and drugs-related problems across the globe. The theme for this year is ‘People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention’.
Mr. Arun Kumar Reddy, Sub Inspector also spoke on the occasion. From Isuzu, besides the employees, Mr. Senthil, Vice President, Mr. Pradeep, HR Head, Mr. K. Venugopal, External Affairs and Mr. Murali, Admin Head attended the session.
