A delegation of 45 students from NIT Warangal, Osmania University, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad, Vidya Jyoti Institute of Technology, University of Hyderabad and other prominent HEIs of Telangana have departed for IIT Roorkee as part of the government’s ambitious cultural and educational endeavour the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat YuvaSangam’ programme, Phase 2.

NIT Warangal is the nodal institute for this trip. The delegate members will stay in Uttarakhand from 29th April to 4th May to understand the culture and traditions of the region.Four faculty members are also travelling with them.

The delegation was flagged at a glittering ceremony by Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director NIT Warangal.

Through this visit, the emphasis will be on increasing the exchange of rich cultural and traditional and exchange of ideas between the two states. Further promotion of tourism, tradition, progress, technology and mutual contact are also part of the agenda. The students will be meeting prominent leaders and change makers including the Governor of Uttarakhand and Minister of Education of the state besides artists, singers, sportspersons and an interaction with the local communities. The students will also get an exposure to TiDES Incubator, BioNEST Incubator, Tinkering Lab, Institute Instrumentation Center and Rock Museum.

Their itinerary also includes a detailed tour of diverse facilities at the IIT Roorkee campus, a trip to Nainital, Haridwar and Rishikesh to experience the rich culture, history, mythological legends and heritage of the hill state and get a close exposure to the local culture, cuisine and scenic beauty of Uttarakhand.

The tour will conclude on May 4.

Mr.  B Srinivas, Nodal officer, Yuva Sangam Season- II from NIT Warangal said, “ These students are the future changemakers and leaders of India. From that perspective it’s critical for them to understand the rich heritage, culture and diversity of the country and also appreciate, understand and empathise with the local communities that are the bedrock of India’s foundation. It will also contribute to their personal growth and broaden the horizons of their minds.

He further added, “Yuva Sangam initiative is a step in that direction for uniting the youth as they experience the life, culture, food, heritage and values of Uttarakhand and its ancient history, at close quarters. We are hopeful that this trip also opens the doors to someideation, brainstorming and catalyses these youngsters into making some path breaking choices for them.”

A brainchild of Ministry of Education, YuvaSangam’ Youth Exchange program under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat aims to strengthen people-to-people connections, especially between youth of different states and introduce to them the culture and values of India. The idea of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was conceptualized and structured by the Hon’ble Prime Minster Sh. NarendraModiJi to create a cultural connect between the various states of India.

It also aims to expose youth who embody not just immense talent, global knowledge, spirit of creativity and innovation but also revisit cultural values that reflect the country’s humane philosophy.

This initiative has been launched after the stupendous success of the first phase of YuvaSangam which was launched this February concluded on a successful note recently witnessing an overwhelming participation of approximately 1200 youngsters visiting 22 Indian states. This was facilitated via 29 special tours where the mainstay was an exposure to the rich culture, heritage and diversity of the North-Eastern region during February-March 2023.
