Produces Linear Motion Guides for various sectors, Supplied products to recent Chandrayaan-3 mission

So as to locate new prospects and expand their customer base in the country, THK India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of THK CO., Ltd., held a ‘Open House’ ceremony at its Green field factory in Sri City on Monday. It is the only production unit of THK in India that produces linear motion guides and equipment for application in various sectors. Mr. Akihiro Teramachi, CEO, THK CO., Ltd., & Chairman, THK India lighted the lamp marking the start of the event, in the august presence of galaxy of dignitaries, including Mr. Yasukuni Enoki, former Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Masayuki Taga, Consul-General, Mr. Ch. Rajeswara Reddy, IRS, Commissioner of Industries, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, CEOs of some of the customer companies, senior officials from Japan, State and Centre government officers. 

Mr. Akihiro Teramachi welcomed the customers and guests, and thanked them for supporting THK. Tracing the history of the company, he briefly explained that they decided to set up their first production unit in India because of customers’ demand, India’s high economic growth, and the government’s ‘Make in India policy’. He expressed gratitude to the AP State Government and Sri City for their excellent support, and said that they chose Sri City Industrial Park for its great infrastructure, including reliable electricity and water supply, access to ports, and the presence of other Japanese companies.    

Stating that the plant was commissioned during November 2021, he mentioned,”We produce high-quality products Linear Motion Guides and supply to various industries in India including machine tools, medical equipment, diamond processing, and stone cutting, railway, aviation, and space industries. Our products were used in India’s moon project Chandrayaan-3. In future, we plan to supply products to the EV industry, semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry, renewable energy industry, and automation equipment”. He said that this plant, besides meeting the local market will export to there countries as well.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy said, “We are very happy to have THK, another major unit in the Precision Engineering sector. Since it is their first and only manufacturing facility in the country, their presence in Sri City is more significant. We are certain that their presence would encourage more high-tech manufacturing firms to come to Sri City.” He wished them a prosperous endeavour. 

Mr. Masayuki Taga expressed his pride in attending the ceremony of the company, the only linear Motion guides manufacturing facility in India, and wished them good prospects.   He praised the support of the State Government and Sri City for Japanese investors and believed that more Japanese investors will choose Sri City for investment in India. Mr. Rajeswara Reddy thanked THK management for choosing Andhra Pradesh for their business and contributing to the state’s economic development.   CEOs of important customer companies, such as Fanuc Corporation, Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW), and ACE Manufacturing, praised THK’s dedication in producing high-quality products. Mr. Ishihara, MD THK India proposed a vote of thanks.

The plant, which was built on a plot of 50 acre in the Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ) at an initial investment of around Rs. 600 crores manufactures linear motion guides, high quality ball screws and generates direct/indirect employment for about 400 people. Mr. Akihiro Teramachi presented certificates of appreciation to the companies that have associated with THK during the phase of construction and commissioning phase of the plant.
