Sri City Celebrates Thyagaraja Aradhana with Soulful Music and Community Spirit

The very first music festival of its kind in the region 

In a harmonious confluence of music and spirituality, MGR Music School (Sullurupeta) and Srivani, Sri City’s Spiritual and Literary Forum, jointly organised a captivating Thyagaraja Aradhana celebration at the Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple on Saturday. The musical concert began after special rituals were observed to the deity on the auspicious occasion of ‘Magha Poornima’. 

The highlight of the event was a mesmerising ‘goshti ganam’ of Thyagaraja’s pancharathna kirtanas, featuring a mellifluous ensemble of seasoned musicians and enthusiastic young talents. The vocal ensemble, led by the esteemed Smt. D.S. Jhansi, consisted of students from MGR Music School, Accord School, and passionate music lovers. Their renditions of Thyagaraja’s timeless compositions transported the audience to a realm of spiritual bliss. Dr. Krishna Kumar and Mr. Lokesh on violin, along with Mr. Hariprasad on mrudangam, provided instrumental support to the vocalists.

Lauding the efforts of the musicians and organisers, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, expressed his appreciation. He remarked on the honour of hosting the inaugural Thyagaraja Aradhana festival in the region and was heartened by the enthusiastic participation. Expressing a desire for continued community support, he expressed hopes of making the event an annual tradition as part of Srivani’s cultural activities. Dr. Sannareddy highlighted the dedication of the performers, aspiring musicians, and music enthusiasts, emphasising that today’s festival serves as a testament to their commitment. He presented mementos to all the musicians as a token of appreciation.

The concert not only captivated Sri City employees but also attracted attendees from neighbouring villages. After the soul-stirring musical experience, teertha prasadam and anna prasadam were distributed to all participants. The audience left the temple premises with hearts brimming with joy and appreciation for the exceptional musical performance.
