Udayagiri: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched rural development works worth Rs 11,085 crore under Palle Panduga 3.0 at Ramapuram village in Varikuntapadu mandal of Udayagiri constituency today.
Later addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister said Palle Panduga was ushering in a new phase of development in villages. The government was focusing on strengthening the rural economy.The Chief Minister said the government was constructing Gokulam sheds and magic drains and working towards ensuring that every eligible family had a house, house site, electricity connection and solar panels.
The Chief Minister praised Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for successfully organising three editions of Palle Panduga under his leadership. He said Pawan Kalyan had made a distinct mark in village development.
As part of the rural development initiative, Gram Sabhas were organised simultaneously in all 13,326 villages across the State to launch development programmes, the Chief Minister said. After a gap of 25 years, promotions had been granted to 10,000 employees working in various positions in the Panchayat Raj system. The government had also released Rs 4,136 crore funds under the 15th Finance Commission.
The Chief Minister said Panchayat Raj Department, under Pawan Kalyan’s leadership, receiving 13 national awards was a matter of appreciation, he added.
With the impact of El Niño continuing, the government was taking measures to address drinking water shortages and protect horticultural crops, the Chief Minister added.
The Chief Minister called upon people from Nellore and Udayagiri who had settled in other regions to return and participate in the development of their native areas. He urged people to support the government’s development initiatives, stating that while it was the government’s responsibility to improve people’s lives, citizens also had a responsibility to stand by the government.
The Chief Minister announced allotment of funds for several development works including Rs 85 crore for constitution of Somasila high level canal phase-I, Clearance for Defence Manufacturing Hub
uninterrupted power supply for CBG Plant, allotment of funds for Somasila dam safety and maintenance, allotment of funds for Krakaturoo Distributary, completion of Rajavolu Lift Irrigation Scheme to meet drinking water and irrigation requirements in the Vinjamur region, sanction of Rs 100 crore to provide safe drinking water to 189 fluoride-affected villages in the Kanigiri region. In addition Drinking water problems in Oletivaripalem, Gudluru and Lingasamudram mandals would be addressed through Rallapadu Reservoir. The ChiefMinister said the government would extend support for the establishment of an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Kanigiri-Ballipalle region.
