Chief Minister Invites National University of Singapore to establish campus in Amaravati
Singapore: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has invited the National University of Singapore to establish an international branch or satellite campus in Amaravati.
During his visit to Singapore today, the Chief Minister met Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore and discussed opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships and higher education expansion in Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu Naidu informed the NUS leadership that the Andhra Pradesh government is working towards developing Amaravati as a global education and knowledge hub and that several prestigious institutions have already established their presence in the capital region.The Chief Minister proposed the establishment of an NUS international branch campus or satellite centre in Amaravati and invited the university to become a key partner in the state’s higher education ecosystem.He also sought the support of the NUS Policy Institute in designing innovative public policies that can help attract global investments and accelerate economic growth in Andhra Pradesh.
During the interaction, NUS professors enquired about the progress of Amaravati’s development and recalled the university’s involvement in preparing the city’s master plan. Responding positively to the proposal, Professor Tan Eng Chye stated that NUS would examine the possibility of establishing a presence in Amaravati and explore avenues for deeper collaboration with the state.
As part of his engagements in Singapore, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also met members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh Business Delegation. Several entrepreneurs and industrialists from Andhra Pradesh participated in the interaction.Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Telugu entrepreneurs have established successful businesses across the world and are well positioned to play a significant role in attracting investments to Andhra Pradesh.He emphasized the need for businesses to embrace innovation and leverage emerging opportunities in the technology-driven global economy.
Chandrababu Naidu urged entrepreneurs to actively promote Andhra Pradesh’s strengths and investment opportunities in international markets.“Industrialists must become ambassadors of Andhra Pradesh. Promoting the state globally means creating opportunities back home. We should showcase our strengths, bring international companies to Andhra Pradesh and build partnerships that generate employment and economic growth,” the Chief Minister said.He highlighted the state’s investor-friendly policies, availability of skilled human resources, land, water resources, and strong infrastructure. From food processing and logistics to electronics and semiconductors, Andhra Pradesh offers opportunities across a wide spectrum of industries, he noted.
The Chief Minister called upon Telugu entrepreneurs across the world to help brand Andhra Pradesh as a preferred global investment destination and facilitate the transfer of technology, expertise and business partnerships to the state.
During the visit, Chandrababu Naidu also held a courtesy meeting with Mr. Lim Siong Guan, Advisor to the Executive Committee of GIC. Discussions focused on governance reforms, administrative excellence, and capacity building.The Chief Minister invited Mr. Lim to support training programmes for senior government officials and public representatives in the areas of good governance, leadership, and public administration.In another meeting, Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Ms. Low Yen Ling, met Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The discussions focused on strengthening Andhra Pradesh–Singapore partnerships across various sectors, including trade, industry, investment, innovation and economic development.
