Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) organized ‘Free Clinic 5K Walk’ at Newtown Park, Johns Creek. WIth over ten years of operation, TAMA’s weekly free clinic has benefited nearly 10,000 people with little or no insurance, visiting parents, students, and many others. TAMA Free Clinic is running with the tireless efforts of around 25 doctors, more than 50 certified volunteers and 50 youth volunteers, probably the only such weekly free clinic across. Main intent of the Walk is to increase awareness in people and fundraising. More than 400 adults, children, youth and seniors enthusiastically participated in TAMA Free Clinic’s annual 5K walk, which is more than expected, setting a new trend. Sincere thanks and salutations to all the donors who came forward for this noble cause, their presence during the walk is commendable. Participation of many doctors is inspiring and encouraging. Also, it’s very glad to see many leaders and members of other organizations taking part in the walk. TAMA has undertaken many vivid and unique programs that are helpful for people of all ages. Clinic 5K Walk is their 17th event of 2023, where health and youth are the priority. For more details visit www.tama.org or email info@tama.org.

Volunteers and the TAMA team arrived by 6:30AM and engaged in the arrangements. All were given T Shirts, Bibs and Pins at the registration desk. The real fun started with the Zumba dance, which was held as part of the warm up. The entire park was abuzz with sign boards, banners, registration booth, breakfast stall, DJ station, youth volunteers and mutual greetings. A notable attraction is the Start – Finish orange arch, specially set up for the walk. Firstly, Chairman Subbarao Maddali invited all the doctors on stage. They said, it gives them immense satisfaction to serve at the TAMA clinic and congratulated TAMA for running it so steadily and efficiently for a long time. Clinic coordinator Nagesh Doddaka elaborated on the history and achievements of the clinic. President Sairam Karumanchi called the donors on to the stage, praised their philanthropic attitude and thanked them for their enormous help. Special guests Johns Creek City Council members Stacey Skinner and Bob Erramilli thanked TAMA for holding such a fabulous program in their city and appreciated the services provided by TAMA Free Clinic. Sponsors, doctors and guests were duly felicitated by TAMA.

The 5K Walk started around 8:45 am. Title sponsor SVK Systems team, presenting sponsor Dr. Guru Prasad, signature sponsors Dhanunjay Jalla, Aruna Maddali, doctors and all sponsors participated enthusiastically. All the walkers marched passionately along the designated route, talking to each other, drinking water provided by the volunteers and taking photos. This walk also helped children, who just started going to school after summer vacation and busy parents to relax in the morning fresh air. TAMA past presidents, chairmen, members and supporters presented trophies to winners in children, adults, seniors and women categories. Gift cards were also given to the winners among the youth and children, who attended in large numbers. Idlis, Pongal, Vada, Tea, Coffee, Gatorade, Water and Bananas were given to all attendees. Rajesh Jampala and Vinay Maddineni were there a day before with the TAMA team and helped in arrangements. Subbarao concluded the outstanding event by thanking the donors, doctors, volunteers, TAMA team & participating Atlantans for their huge support.
