Aaranyaka: A Mystical Journey of Art and Inner Awakening Comes to Arizona

PHOENIX Ariz. — Southern California-based Story Loom Productions will bring Aaranyaka, a production showcasing Indian theatrical art through dance, music, storytelling and Kerala’s martial art, Kalaripayattu, to the Higley Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Directed by Sachitha Chandrasenan, Aarayaka is set deep within a mystical forest inhabited by a tribal community, Aaranyaka is a journey of inner awakening, inspired by the philosophy of “Tat Tvam Asi”—“You are That.” The production explores the profound connection between the human spirit, nature and the world around us. Through powerful dance, music, storytelling, Kalaripayattu and immersive stage visuals, it brings to life a world of ancient traditions, spirituality and the timeless relationship between humanity and nature.

Following a sold-out California performance in June, the team is preparing to share the production with Arizona audiences. The show reflects months of rehearsals, creative collaboration and dedicated work by its artists and crew.

Designed to transcend language barriers, the production relies heavily on visual storytelling, allowing audiences from diverse backgrounds to follow and experience the story. A digital pamphlet outlining the storyline will also be available.

Story Loom Productions was founded by three women – Bindu Suresh, Sachitha Chandrasenan and Preethi Pavithran – with a shared vision of creating opportunities for storytelling and artistic collaboration. Based in Southern California, the company brings stories to life through visual creativity, performing arts and community-driven artistic initiatives.

The Arizona performance invites audiences to experience a theatrical journey that celebrates cultural traditions while reflecting on themes of spirituality, humanity and nature.
