SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi Enters Crucial Shooting Phase
SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, has entered a crucial stage of production. After wrapping up its major IMAX scale action sequences, the team began a new schedule on July 8 and is currently filming a pivotal Aghora themed episode on a massive Varanasi set at Ramoji Film City, featuring hundreds of junior artistes.
During his recent visit to France, Rajamouli revealed that the film’s biggest action blocks have already been completed and that the focus has now shifted to key emotional and dramatic sequences. With nearly 80 days of shooting remaining, the makers are aiming to complete principal photography by September or October.
Meanwhile, the team unveiled Priyanka Chopra’s first-look poster as Mandakini on her birthday. Calling Varanasi a grand adventure spanning multiple countries and timelines, Priyanka hinted at spectacular action sequences that will be a major highlight of the film.
Also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Varanasi is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
