Queen 2 Faces Legal Hurdle Ahead of Release
Queen 2, the sequel to Kangana Ranaut’s blockbuster Queen, has completed filming and entered post production. While the project was steadily moving toward release, it has now landed in a major legal dispute, raising questions over its theatrical rollout.
According to the latest reports, Phantom Studios has filed a Rs. 250 crore lawsuit against JioStar in the Bombay High Court, claiming it owns a 50% stake in the intellectual property rights of the original Queen. The studio argues that its consent was mandatory for the production of any sequel and alleges that Queen 2 was developed without its approval.
Phantom Studios has reportedly stated that it issued a public notice and held multiple discussions with the concerned parties before approaching the court, but the matter remained unresolved.
JioStar is yet to issue an official response to the allegations. With the case now before the Bombay High Court, industry attention has shifted to the legal proceedings and their potential impact on the film’s release plans.
As Queen 2 is already in post production, it remains to be seen whether the ongoing legal battle will delay its theatrical release. The developments have quickly become one of the biggest talking points in Bollywood.
